Chair of World Intellectual Property Association of Korean Practitioners  

As a member of the Korea Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA) and the representative of a patent law firm, I have been pursuing various leading roles as to policy decision and law-making procedure in Korea IP community, which is one of the most advanced IP community in the world. To further the community around the world, I attended as a co-founder of World IP association of Korea Practitioners and have been an incumbent as Chair since foundation in 2017. Also, I have provided administrative advice and legislative support to several judiciary and political organizations, including the Korea Patent Court, District Court, Korea Intellectual Property Office, and National Assembly, which are leading Korean IP-related entities. In addition, I regularly appear in Korea’s mass media including television channels, radio programs and newspapers to provide comments on key issues in ongoing IP-related cases and new legislation. Through these activities, I continued to take part in, and sometimes lead, the public sectors in order to develop the IP field of Korea and also IP community around the world. Meanwhile in private sector, I have been representing large companies and small inventors as well in various important cases which can socially affect the whole IP community. My firm and partner firms in overseas are dealing with cases going in and out of Korea. With thorough experiences in Korea and expertise, our firm is successfully representing incoming cases from overseas. Also, I am representing my clients as to several outgoing cases from Korea with our competitive global networks. I look forward to keeping in touch with worldwide IP community members and prospective clients.

Professional Honors  

In 2008, Mr. Jeon was granted a reward from the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of Korea for contribution to the protection of IP rights. In the same year, he was also commended a reward for his contribution to progress of patent by Korea Patent Attorneys Association.

Education & Professional Activities  

Mr. Lee earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. He was admitted to the Korea Patent Bar in 2007, and was registered to practice before the Korea Patent and Trademark Office. He takes charge of patents for the offices designated by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy, is a committee member of Small and Medium Business Administration, and is a specialized committee member of Korea International Trade Association. Mr. Lee has thorough experiences on the ownership, infringement and licensing of intellectual property applications including the preparation of opinions on validity and infringement issues regarding computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical arts, and software engineering in the telecommunications areas.

Mr. Shin received his LL.B. degree from Seoul National University, College of Law. He is a member of Korean Bar Association. He also finished graduate studies in Seoul National University, College of Law for Corporate Law, Real Estate, Taxation, Finance and Intellectual Property. He also worked as a Law Consultation Lawyer in Seoul Central District Court, Korean Bar Association, JungRang District. Mr. Shine is a senior lawyer in Seoul Bar Association working for small and medium businesses. He is a legal counsel in PyeongHwa Broadcasting Service and Participates in the program “Everyday Law” as a panel.

Mr. Shin is mainly involved in intellectual property litigation including Patent infringement, Trademark infringement, and technical contract preparation and examination. He has prosecuted and defended critical intellectual property infringements through his career. He also has his expertise on corporate litigation and taxation conversant with intellectual property litigation.
